Hectic doesn’t even begin to describe it. The more you play it, the better it kabongs you upside your head. The album is exploding euphoria from start to finish. In fact, some might actually show signs of enthusiasm, even excitement at the fact that from July 5–13, 2018, in the air-conditioning free environs of Ty’s home studio, the duo, eventually calling themselves Wasted Shirt, wrecked the joint as thoroughly as you hoped they would. "Ty’s 2019 album, First Taste, and the new Lighting Bolt album, Sonic Citadel, are easily some of the best material either entity has ever released so if these two happened to find themselves in the same recording studio, a fan just might entertain elevated expectation levels. This one is called Wasted Shirt (Chippendale drums, Ty plays everything else both sing).

The new album was recorded with a backing band that featured Emmett Kelly, Mikal Cronin, Charles Moothart, and Ben Boye. To confuse matters, this is actually his second self-titled album, his 2008 debut full-length was also titled Ty Segall. The prolific musician just released his last album, Emotional Mugger, in January 2016 via Drag City. Check it out below, followed by some tour dates. Previously he shared the album’s “Orange Color Queen” and “Break a Guitar.” Last night he stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to perform “Break a Guitar” in a very rock ‘n’ roll rendition with a full backing band. Ty Segall released a new album, which is self-titled, last month via Drag City.
